Mission Congo plot
A documentary about death, diamonds and greed in which a charismatic American businessman takes an irresistible opportunity during one of the worst humanitarian disasters of modern times. Pat Robertson is a television preacher, multi-millionaire and leader of the religious right and a man on a mission. During an escalating refugee crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he took to the airwaves to raise money for Operation Blessing International, a charitable organization. He withdrew millions of dollars in donations for emergency relief projects in Congo. However, the filmmakers conducted a deep investigation into what Operation Blessing actually accomplished. They interview rescuers, eyewitnesses, and even the pilots of Robertson's planes describing another mission: diamond mining. People were taken from refugee camps to mines to extract precious gems from the ground.
