Missing Peace plot
Before plunging into politics, Colombian Ingrid Betancourt lived a sheltered life with her family in France, her husband's native country. Then she decided to return to her country and fight for a better future. Colombia has been torn apart for years by the violence perpetrated by drug traffickers, paramilitaries and the FARC guerrilla movement, which kidnaps more than 1,000 people every year as leverage to free captive guerrillas. Betancourt initially joins the Liberal party, but later founds her own party Oxygeno. In strong terms, she denounces government corruption and calls for peace. A courageous but perilous mission, as it turns out in February 2002, Betancourt, now a presidential candidate, is himself kidnapped. This film follows her family's tenacious and fruitless attempts to get her out.
