Men of Gold plot
The black filmmaker Vincent Moloi spent a year following the white toaster Leonard Johnson and some of his friends as they wandered the streets of Johannesburg. Newsreel images from other times cut through this impression of life at the bottom of present-day South Africa. Johnson, who has a rough life behind him, barely manages to survive begging and the street sale of fake jewelry. But, he philosophizes with his addicted friend Arthur, he can at least afford a shabby room, he doesn't have to sleep on the street. Johnson tries to take life as it comes, expressing his dismay at all the changes, the crime and the corruption.
