Malls R Us plot

Combining nostalgia, dazzling architecture, pop culture, economics and politics, the documentary examines the most popular and profitable destination of North America's suburbs; the shopping malls. And how for consumers these malls can provide communal and even ceremonial experiences. For the makers and architects, these 'shopping malls' are the places where idealism, passion and greed come together. The film traces the history of the malls in America, combining archival footage with interviews with those involved, and with visits to some of the largest and most spectacular shopping centers in Canada, the US, the UK, Japan, Poland, France and Dubai.
