Luci plot

How far ahead of his time was the enlightened Surinamese Luci? That is the starting point of this archive documentary. Luci was the pseudonym under which the great-great-grandfather of director Wijdeven, the Surinamese artist GGT Rustwijk (1862-1914), made his name at the time. Rustwijk was a remarkable man who, as a Surinamese of color, stood out shortly after the abolition of slavery because of his critical voice against the colonial regime and his multidisciplinary art. Eventually he fell into oblivion. But what was Rustwijk's 'light' and what remains of it?
