Long Live Benjamin plot

When the wife of artist Allen Hirsch finds a severely weakened orphaned monkey during their honeymoon in Venezuela in 1997, the newlyweds decide to keep him. A deep bond immediately develops between Hirsch and Benjamin, as they call the capuchin monkey. Hirsch smuggles him in his inside pocket on the plane to New York, where he raises the animal in their apartment. The monkey is like a child to Hirsch: “With Benjamin I had the deepest bond I've ever had with anyone. He became more human, I became more animal.”
