Les Fiancés d'Imilchil plot
The annual engagement party of Imilchil, a village in Morocco's Atlas Mountains, was born from a local legend. The legend tells the tragic story of two lovers. Two rival tribes disagree with the love between Tislit, a girl from the Aït Yaza tribe, and Isli, a boy from the Aït Ibrahim tribe. The two lovers flee to the mountains. There their streams of tears form two lakes in which they drown. To prevent this from ever happening again, the parents decide that once a year, during the Engagement Party, the youngsters get to choose who they want to marry.
