Later We Care plot
After her husband's death, the elderly mother of filmmaker Claire Pijman moves to Amsterdam, close to her daughters and grandchildren. Initially she lives in Claire's house, but when a ground floor apartment becomes available in the street, she moves there. Claire and her sister try to combine caring for their mother with dementia with their work and family. That's how it should be, is Claire's firm conviction. But as her mother's condition worsens, it gets worse. Claire and her sister have to watch with sadness how their mother's world is getting smaller and how, despite the devotion of her daughters and their efforts to offer her a pleasant daytime activity, she slowly becomes lonely. Ultimately, admission to a nursing home seems unavoidable.
