Landstück plot
The fringe moraine landscape of the Uckermark region has fascinated Volker Koepp for decades. After his socio-historical film Uckermark, in “Landstück” he focuses even more strongly on the sensory experiences in the sparsely populated, ecologically all the more interesting region between Berlin and the Baltic Sea. The wind that ripples the marsh water, swaying treetops and grain fields invite us to focus on the essence of this region. Residents and visitors talk passionately about the alfalfa fields that prevent steppe formation, but are threatened by conventional agriculture. Wild meadow herbs are in danger of extinction. The film is an ode to those who resist the industrialization of arable farming and the destruction of a cultural landscape.
