"Venezuela was once a colony. We liberated it."

Hugo Chavez and his Bolivarian Revolution are hated and loved. The makers of this documentary question Chavez and his politics. Does contemporary Venezuela represent the dream of a new socialist society or is it just a new way of populism and dictatorship? This film traces both sides of the Chavez regime as the start of the red wave in Latin America, now nine years ago. Combating illiteracy and hunger on the one hand is opposed to closing popular TV channels and rampant government populism on the other.
