L'Enigme Velazquez plot

As court painter to the Spanish king, Diego Velázquez created one of the most important paintings in art history with "The Ladies in Waiting." Besides portraits of the royal family and the pope, he also focused on the common people, leaving behind an oeuvre of over 200 paintings. Yet, many aspects of his life and work remain obscure. His extraordinary mastery of light and shadow gives his Baroque portraits a delicate, vibrant depth—a stylistic device that only gained widespread recognition in Impressionism a century later.
