Knee Deep plot
Josh Osborne grows up with his sister on his parents' dairy farm in rural Maine that has been in their family's hands for three generations. He had to leave school early to devote himself entirely to farming. Day in and day out he works on the farm. It's hard work and long days, but Josh takes comfort in the prospect that the entire company will one day be his. Until one day his mother seems to think otherwise. And so it happens that the twenty-two-year-old farmer's son stands in front of his mother one beautiful summer day with a rifle at the ready. We see how it came to this in this remarkable documentary on the basis of home videos, interviews with those involved, their families and acquaintances, sound recordings from the police, love letters and reconstructions. The story is surprisingly tragic and comic at the same time.
