Jungle Sisters plot
"Slave Labour or Forced Marriage: What's a Village Girl to Do?"
When artist and filmmaker Chloe Ruthven criticizes her sister Orlanda, who works in India, with the television images of abuses in the Asian textile industry on her retina, the answer is: "Come and see for yourself." In India she films Orlanda during her work, while questioning her. Orlanda has lived in India for fifteen years and works for an organization that recruits girls from the countryside to work in one of the big textile factories in Bangalore city, where they work hard for a meager salary. As Chloe becomes more involved in the various aspects of the story of two girls, especially Bhuntu and Banu, she sees the dilemmas her sister struggles with and it becomes clear that everything is more complicated than expected.
