Japan's Secret Shame plot

Reporting allegations of sexual assault is a traumatic and difficult process. But in Japan it is almost a taboo. Only 4% of victims there report their allegations to the police. One victim is Shiori Ito. In 2017, she shocked the country with a public accusation of rape by a well-known TV journalist and biographer of the Japanese prime minister. The accused Noriyuki Yamaguchi strongly denies the facts. Shiori is hardly believed and after a year the case is dropped. But despite the public humiliation and hate campaigns, the woman continues her struggle.
