The career of singer and entertainer Jan Mesdag was unstoppable in the mid-eighties. He shuttled up and down between the theaters of New York and Amsterdam. In the Netherlands he appeared on important stages and performed with well-known artists. But then he got sick. Infected with the HIV virus, which was still a mystery at the time. There was no cure yet, and young Mesdag was facing certain death. He still had one wish: to sing songs by Jacques Brel.
