Jag Är Dublin plot
Ahmed arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa more than six years ago by rickety boat. His fingerprints were taken there. According to the Dublin Regulation, from that moment on, Italy was the designated country to process his asylum application. But Ahmed found life in Italy too hard, left for Sweden and went into hiding. When he is discovered by filmmaker David Aronowitsch, he has been hiding for three years. Aronowitsch asks Ahmed to play the young asylum seeker Daoud, the main character in the short fiction film “Dublin”. The story of this Daoud is a reflection of Ahmed's own story; what the fictional Daoud experiences, Ahmed experienced in reality. Parallel to the making of the film “Dublin”, Aronowitsch and his fellow filmmakers are also shooting a documentary about Ahmed himself.
