Insel 36 plot

In January 2012, an Iraqi asylum seeker committed suicide in his refugee residence in Würzburg. Asylum seekers from all over Germany flocked to Berlin to demonstrate against the strict asylum laws that place them in isolation. The protest continued in October 2012 with the establishment of an illegal tent camp in the middle of Oranienplatz in the Kreuzberg district. Asli Özarslan went into the camp with her film crew to document the struggle of the residents.
