India: Love or Rape? plot

Documentary about sexual violence in India. Since the gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old Indian student in December 2012, there has been a worldwide demand for a strict approach to violence against women. But the world's largest democracy is still a land of sexual taboos and arranged marriages, where women's rights are not high on the agenda. Especially in the countryside, where tradition and the caste system rule, violence against women is deeply ingrained in society. Village councils jealously guard patriarchal values and would even incite the murder of women who break the rules. The documentary makers give the floor to victims of sexual and domestic violence, show how women from the lowest classes are the biggest victims and ask how India can become a safer and better country for women and men.
