In Our Name plot
Who would dare to think today that it is necessary to talk about the pros and cons of torture. International law prohibits torture. But after September 11, torture and other ill-treatment have become serious policy options in the war on terror. But what exactly is torture? Is torture ever justified? What would you do if someone close to you, such as your child, was in danger? Would you agree to torture if you thought it was the only way to save? And if we allow torture in our name, what does that say about us? Filmmaker Chris Tuckfield discussed this with Raimond Gata (moral philosopher), Darius Rejali (expert on torture in democracies), Ken Roth (Human Right Watch), and Juan Mendez (UN adviser and torture victim himself).
