Express trains cross Italy every night from north to south and vice versa. From time to time they are left behind in a destination that is slowly but surely falling into disrepair. “Il passaggio della linea” is a journey through Italy aboard one of these trains, where dialects and different languages mingle. The travelers are mostly commuters traveling north or foreigners content with temporary work across Italy Each of them has its own story, as outside the dirty and hazy windows pass a variety of landscapes, some bearing the painful marks of human intervention while others are intact and show a dazzling beauty. passengers' lives to float indefinitely, interrupted only by the changes in the light filtering through the windows and illuminating the weary limbs.
