I Am Here plot
A glimpse into China's “post-90 generation” – the first generation born after the student protests of 1989 – in which a few of the chosen few try to realize their dreams through Superboy, a talent show for boys. Director Lixin Fan points his camera at the young candidates of this popular television show. Without comment, he follows them in the grueling run-up to the final. In an intensive preparation process, culminating in a two-month boot camp, their self-image is tested as well as their singing and dancing talent. Boys become men here, is the idea behind the show.
