Het Is Geen Verleden - 08 12 1982 plot

A retrospective on the events of the night in which 15 men were tortured and murdered at Fort Zeelandia in Paramaribo, Suriname, is told through testimonies, archival footage, and the work of artists. In the documentary, journalist Noraly Beyer speaks with Surinamese youth and contemporaries about a past that turns out not to be a past. The film features testimonies and reconstructions drawn from the December 8 criminal trial, which resulted in a 20-year sentence for former army chief and former president Desi Bouterse.
