Hermits plot

Twenty-five years ago, American author Bill Porter set out for the Zhongnan Mountains to meet modern Chinese hermits. He wrote the book Road to Heaven, a reference work for Westerners wondering what is left of Buddhist and Daoist asceticism in China. Porter now returns to Zhongnan for the first time to experience the hermit life of silence and deep devotion from within, in a breathtaking location.
