HAMSTERs plot
Traumas and post-traumatic stress are common concepts these days. Director Martine Doyen gives this a twist with a historical, yet modern film. In Brussels, witnesses of the terrorist attack in the Jewish Museum in 2014 are struck by mass hysteria and they start dancing madly in the streets. "HAMSTERs" is also inspired by the 'dance mania' in Brussels in 1564. Doyen's film spontaneously incorporates chaos and shock and replaces mindless disorder with its own pleasantly disturbed, therapeutic disorder. The 'dancers' disrupt public space perhaps even more disturbingly than the terrorists.
