Gezin in de Wacht plot

The Elias family fled to the Netherlands in 1997. The Pakistani family, parents and three children, hope to be allowed to stay here because the father as a Catholic in Islamic fundamentalist Pakistan has encountered problems. The asylum application is rejected, against which their lawyer will appeal. It is the beginning of years of uncertainty, which is slowly destroying the family. The parents are not allowed to work and are forced to sit at home, their children go to school and 'Dutchize' in contact with their classmates.
