Genadeloos - Gijs Hendriks plot

Jazz saxophonist and composer Gijs Hendriks is not resting on his laurels after an eventful life and many musical successes. Uncompromisingly, he continues to look for the best possible way to make his music sound; not for one night, but forever. A search for 'something that survives'. The improvised music, in which the pain and sometimes the feeling of inability to adapt to life can be heard, determines his life. He and his wife Sonja have a secluded household in Utrecht. In the documentary, director Ellen Blom shows how Hendriks' genius comes into being. Genius that is always subjected by himself afterwards to a merciless judgment; “I only believe in creativity on the ground.”
