Fritz Litzmann, Mein Vater und Ich plot
The director sheds light on the life of his father Rainer Pause, who founded the famous cabaret theatre “Pantheon” on the Bundeskanzlerplatz in Bonn in 1987 and still performs as his stage character Fritz Litzmann today. The film examines the motivations of an uncompromising artist and shows how his life has influenced his son. Why did the family never challenge this radical approach to life? Why was the father unable to stop his son’s youthful downward spiral? A journey by father and son to the origins of their dreams, fears and ideas – through the history of German cabaret, back to the Bonn Republic and the politically charged 1970s.
