In the early 1970s, a man emerged as a well-known figure throughout the New York City police force. Detective Frank Serpico was a hero to many, but was hated by others for stopping bribery and corruption. His one-man crusade for police reform inspired the Al Pacino classic that bears his name, but the real life saga is as gripping as Hollywood could dream. In this documentary, Serpico tells his story in his own words: from his Italian-American roots in Brooklyn to his disenchantment with the New York Police Department, when he unleashes a fierce battle against drug trafficking, eventually being shot in the face.
