Fastidiosa plot

The southern Italian olive tree is sick. The bacterium Xylella fastidiosa is the culprit. Scientists cannot stop the bacterium and are also threatened by local authorities. Italian filmmaker Stefano Cattini shows how mistrust, conspiracy theories and misunderstanding stand in the way of an urgent solution to an ecological disaster. Are the trees infected by project developers as some think, or by financiers of a new oil pipeline? The local residents see the bacterium mainly as the umpteenth form of a threatening modernity.
