Exil plot

With Exile, Rithy Panh returns to the theme of The Missing Picture: his personal experiences with the regime of the Khmer Rouge. The title's exile refers to the expulsion of his family from the capital Phnom Penh to the countryside. Panh was the only one of the family to survive the genocide. He depicts the loss of his identity in his teenage years, the loss of his relatives, the famine and forced labor in poetic images full of symbolism.
