In 1998 Maarten Schmidt and Thomas Doebele made the documentary 'En Therefore Work I', about children in a slum in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Under the motto 'the working children of today are the uneducated adults of tomorrow', the children were allowed to attend primary school for free. . They talked about their responsibilities, worries and dreams. Now, fourteen years later, the makers wonder to what extent learning to read and write has influenced their lives. They visited the children of that time again. To what extent have they been able to break the vicious circle of poverty?
