Double Aliens plot
Samtskhe-Javakheti is an area in South Georgia bordering Turkey and Armenia. A robust region where the roads have always been bad but are completely impassable in winter when there is snow meters high. Traditionally, the region has been home to a large Armenian population. This creates tensions that proliferate under the skin, but which have never come to a physical eruption. Georgian photographer Daro Sulaukari wanted to make a photo series about it and invited director Ugis Olte to accompany her. Their collaboration took the form of a road movie, which not only portrays a specific region and its inhabitants, but also reflects the personal considerations of the makers. Associatively and poetically, Olte and Sulaukari record the stories of people who come their way seemingly at random...
