Die Große Stille plot

In exceptional cases, Gröning was allowed to film in the French Grande Chartreuse monastery. The director lived with and as the monks of the silent Carthusian order for six months, resulting in a 160-minute visual journey in silence. The Grande Chartreuse Monastery in the French Alps, the headquarters of the Carthusian Order, is considered one of the most private places in the world.
