Defilada plot
An image of the relatively unknown North Korea, where the 'great leader' Kim Il Sung held sway from around 1949 to 1994. Adored by the people who see in him the great benefactor. A gigantic parade was held on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of Korea, which runs like a red thread through this documentary. Conversations with the population invariably show the boundless admiration for its leader, born in 1912, and his son and successor, Kim Jong Il. The worship is uncritical, almost sickly. Kitschy monuments were erected for the man. His orders were carried out without thinking.
