Dead Men Talking plot

Ding Yu, a young Chinese journalist, wants to find out the truth; why are the prisoners she speaks to sentenced to death? Her passion for the truth is the driving force behind her weekly reality show 'Interviews Before Death', a show with 40 million viewers in Henan province. In this weekly prime time show, Ding Yu visits inmates in their cells and interviews the convicted inmates just before their execution. Every year in China, around a thousand death row inmates are executed, something the Chinese government does not keep a secret. The idea is that if people know what the consequences will be for their actions, they are less likely to commit a crime. In the conversation, not only the committed crimes are discussed, but also matters such as family, children, hopes and ambitions. The execution takes place a few days after the interview.
