De Udstillede plot
The installation 'Psychomobile #1: World Clock' by the Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier was shown in a museum in Copenhagen in 1996. For two months, 53 actors occupied the nineteen rooms in the museum. Ants from Los Alamos, New Mexico were responsible for directing these actors, who were instructed to change their mood depending on the ants' movements. For example, on a day when the ants discovered an extra meal, the hall lights that indicated the mood swings kept flicking on and off, while on a day when only two ants were around, the actors had to show the same emotion for a long time. Director Jesper Jargil recorded the improvisations in the museum with a hand-held camera and spoke with the actors about their characters and the experience of acting under these conditions.
