Led by Johan Vollenbroek, Mobilisation for the Environment (MOB) is waging a tenacious legal battle to force the government to comply with its own environmental laws. While farmers fear for their future and companies like Tata Steel and Schiphol are under pressure, MOB is litigating against the government regarding issued permits, demanding that they be enforced, tightened, or—where necessary—revoked entirely. This small group of citizens, armed with data, files, and perseverance, is achieving successes but also provoking fierce resistance, thereby exposing societal tensions.
