More than 40 years ago, artist Bas Jan Ader decided to go on an adventure. The Dutchman left the United States for England in a small sailing boat. Nine months later, the boat was found at sea, without Bas Jan. Filmmaker Martijn Blekendaal starts an investigation into the artist, his work and the role of art in general.
