De Genco's plot

In Amsterdam they are a household name: the Gencos. Their name adorns one of the most successful Turkish supermarkets in the Indian neighborhood. There are three generations of the Turkish family in the shop every day. Filmmakers Hans Pool and Maaik Krijgsman won the trust of the family members. For a year they closely followed family life full of tensions and vicissitudes. Who are the Gencos and what drives them? What is their background, their history? A portrait of three generations of Turks who owe their success to preserving their own culture and traditions in combination with a healthy 'Dutch' merchant spirit.
