Dans Ma Tête un Rond-Point plot
In an abattoir in the middle of Algiers, the men who work there like to talk about the life they are so far away from. They mainly do their work at night. Surrounded by animal skins, they are filmed in their bloody overalls. Occasionally they peek into the camera, which only moves in exceptional cases. Observations of their work are interspersed with tranquil, high-contrast images of carcasses hanging in rows next to each other, like vanitas paintings, supported by penetrating raï music. This documentary takes a look at the uneasiness of a slaughterhouse. The microcosm of the abattoir is portrayed as a world within a world: during work breaks, the men discuss politics, the refusal of some French-Algerian footballers to sing the Marseillaise and their own expectations for the future...
