Dans, Grozny Dans plot
After more than ten years of civil war, the Chechen capital Grozny has been virtually destroyed. For children, the situation is virtually hopeless. In this environment, the dancer Ramzan Achmadov gathered a group of children from six to sixteen years old and formed the dance group Daymokhk. For them, dancing is a way of escaping their hopeless existence and building a sense of self-worth. The images show the children practicing, literally among the rubble of Grozny. The group is followed during their journey by old bus to Europe, and during their performances in Amsterdam, London, Krakow and Warsaw. On stage they prove that the war has not yet defeated them: the girls in white dresses stride across the stage like angels, the boys show with their explosive dances that, in addition to strength, they also have control.
