Conducting Mahler plot

"Various interpretations of Mahler's Music"

In 1995 a large-scale Mahler festival was organized in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The complete oeuvre of composer Gustav Mahler was performed for seventeen days. Internationally renowned conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Chailly, Claudio Abbado, Ricardo Mutti and Simon Rattle came to Amsterdam to present their views on the various works of this Austrian composer. In 'Conducting Mahler' these conductors speak about their fascination for Mahler's work. They tell about the ambivalent work of the composer, who bridges the gap from romanticism to modernism. We see how the master conductors rehearse with their orchestras. And how do the final performances differ and what are the similarities between their interpretations?
