Colors Straight Up plot
"It's the performance of their lives."
The focus is on 'Colors United', a drama workshop set up as an after-school activity for the students of Jordan High School in the troubled 'Watts' neighborhood in Los Angeles. While the young people rehearse for a theatrical performance, a musical based on 'Romeo & Juliet', entitled: 'Watts Side Story', the lives of African-American and Latino-American young people are highlighted. In their daily struggle against the temptations of firearms, drugs and violence, they already use 'Colors United' as a safe haven and a way to express their thoughts, fears and aspirations.
