City of Borders plot
"Love and Consequences at Jerusalem's Only Gay Bar"
In the heart of Jerusalem stands an unusual symbol of unity: the gay bar Shushan. 'City of Borders' shows what takes place within this sanctuary. Shushan turns out to be a meeting place for people of different nationalities and different religious beliefs. People who are normally regarded as each other's 'enemies' form a close-knit group with a common goal. They fight for the right to be accepted for who they are. That this is not easy is apparent from the lives of the five visitors who are followed in the documentary. For example, 36-year-old Sa'ar Netanel who became the first openly gay man to sit on the Jerusalem city council.
