Cinecittà Babilonia plot
'Cinecittà Babilonia' takes its inspiration from Kenneth Anger's famous gossip book 'Hollywood Babylon' and tells the story of the birth of Italian cinema in the 1930s and 1940s in the shadow of fascism. Using archival footage from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, the oldest film school in Western Europe, the documentary evokes the era in which the great Roman film studio Cinecittà emerged and charts the productive relationship between Italian and American cinema. . It is unique how the Italian actresses of yesteryear are remembered by their young colleagues who attend school in the Centro Sperimentale.
