Christine plot
Through an advertisement in an Iranian newspaper, Christine, who was abandoned forty years earlier, is looking for her family. Iranian Christine grew up with her adoptive parents in Sweden and now lives in the United States. She is now a beautiful, confident woman. A large number of families believe they recognize a lost sister or daughter in the newspaper photo. When Christine arrives in Iran, several hopeful families are waiting for her at the airport. She must now find out if she is connected to any of them. Director Mohammad Jafari asks the families direct questions - why did you want to get rid of the child, who picked it up, what would have happened if you had kept the child? - and assembles the answers of the possible parents, siblings sentence after sentence into a whole. While none of these people may actually be related to Christine, each family has abandoned a girl.
