Children of War plot
"A journey of healing and homecoming."
An estimated 35,000 children were kidnapped from their home, school or village by the Lord's Registance Army during the war in Northern Uganda. This rebel group, led by the self-proclaimed prophet Joseph Kony, trained the children to be soldiers or gave them away as sex slaves. This was accompanied by abuse, religious indoctrination and forced participation in brutal violence. Some 25,000 children miraculously escaped from the army or were freed. Children of War shows how the Rachele Rehabilitation Center takes care of the young victims. A team of coaches helps the children through role-playing and (group) discussions to process their traumas and work towards the eventual reunification with their families left behind.
