Chavez: Inside the Coup plot
On April 11, 2002, a military coup takes place against President Chavez, in which he is imprisoned. The coup plotters strip parliament of its powers and suspend certain laws. Due to the established censorship, it is not clear to citizens what exactly is going on. After foreign TV images show that Chávez refused to resign, many thousands of residents of Caracas protest massively and persistently against his ouster. The palace guard eventually intervenes and arrests the coup plotters. Military support for Chávez is growing again and members of the old government can return. Three days later, Chávez takes over again. The makers of the documentary try to show that the failed coup was led by the US government and CIA, for economic (oil) and geo-political motives.
