Charley Toorop, de Wil Is Alles plot
The painter Charley Toorop was born at the end of the nineteenth century as the daughter of the then very famous painter Jan Toorop and she died in 1955. She managed to maintain herself as an artist at a time when working women were a very big exception. Yet she succeeded and her house in Bergen was known as a meeting place for progressive artists such as Roland Holst, Piet Mondriaan, Pyke Koch and Arthur Lehning. The film features photographer Eva Besnyƶ, daughter-in-law of Charley Toorop, art critic professor Hammacher and painter and former student Bep Rietveld-Eskes.
