Chamissos Schatten plot

Originally from France, Adelbert von Chamisso is best known in Germany as a poet for works such as the 1814 novella 'Peter Schlemihl's Wondersame Geschichte', in which a man sells his shadow. In addition, Chamisso was also a naturalist who sailed around the world as a researcher, documenting the flora of distant Alaska, among other things. Known for his travel documentaries, filmmaker Ulrike Ottinger took the Franco-German author as a model to follow in his footsteps and discover the strait between America and Asia: the Bering Sea.
